Pioneering regenerative medicine and tissue engineering solutions

About Us

AdHeal is part of the Celiz Lab, based at the Department of Bioengineering (Imperial College London) working on the development of advanced adhesive materials and hydrogels for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

What We Do

Injectable, sticky, regenerative biomaterials to restore heart functions after a heart attack.

The Problem

Heart attack is the leading cause of death worldwide. Cardiac tissue dies after a heart attack and its functions can be permanently lost. The heart has limited ability for self-repair and clinical standards mainly aim at managing symptoms.

Our Solution

We are developing surgical bioadhesives to be applied in a minimally invasive manner on cardiac tissue. Our material spontaneously adheres to the heart and releases therapeutics to regenerate the cardiac tissue and regain its functions

Drawbacks?

The heart is a challenging environment to stick regenerative patches; our materials are design to withstand the dynamic forces of cardiac tissue. Our material formulations are also tuneable and can be adopted to a variety of human tissues as regenerative sticky materials.
